I think my exhaust sounds similar. It idles extremely quietly, sometimes I can't even tell it's on. But, when I pull away it sounds oh so sexy. I've been next to cops before at stop lights and when I pull away, they slow down and I can see them check out my exhaust. Too bad for them it looks completely stock. My system is stock tips and hangers welded onto Magnaflow mufflers, then Magnaflow resonators, then meet at a center Mag can and then straight pipes to the cats and then SS headers. Oh and of course a vvti 1uzfe. But yea as the others said, deleting your resonators should help out with the sound. But I say you should go buy that 99 SC4 aliga is selling for dirt cheap
Has anyone ever tried just welding a 350z muffler to an sc300?
*runs for cover due to the potential hail of stones for his stupid question*
Well u cant exactly do this because the 350z/g35 exhaust do only have one muffler which branches out into 2 tips but as far as having the tips welded onto the SC for the look you can definitely have that done and id say go for it.

As for the x-pipe, theoretically you can put an x-pipe on any car really, you just need a good muffler guy who can custom weld one up for you but it is essential in getting that nice, balanced growl. If i had a 300 i wouldnt hesitate to do the straightpipe setup from the resonators back. In fact, a week ago i almost did this to my 400 lolll, thank God common sense struck me and with my horrible luck with police, i thought better of it lolll
Here's mine....and yes-it's a rubber ducky and no-I don't wanna talk about it.
It's throaty- I have two apexi N1 cans on the end.
ok guys, a 2jz does not have or need an x-pipe, unless you mysteriously have 2 exhaust manifolds on a inline motor not feeding into the same collector.
that is a really nice looking y pipe though.
1. Cut out and weld up the spare tire well for clearance while adding heat shielding to keep from lighting the trunk on fire.
2. Have your muffler shop add 6.25" of pipe (I measured) on either side of the stock muffler's tail pipes, to get The Z's tips to line up with the SC's tips.
3. Have you muffler shop run a single exhaust, deleting the cat and resonators, down the drivers side, to the muffler.
This would probably, between loosing the spare tire well, stock heavy mufflers, middle-cat, and the resonators too, loose a fair amount of weight.
Wow, this thread is getting progressively worse. We went from a stupid question (sorry but it was lol), to advising the guy to cut out his spare tire well to who knows wat else. Just save yourself the trouble and either get magnaflows like so many of the other members said, or do what i told you and straightpipe the damm thing LOL
