man this debate is really making me think. I am going to go with the V160 but in the mean time I possibly will drop the W58 in just to get to shifting. The v160 i want to put in when I build the GTE.

I just found out there's a rebuild kit from http://www.importperformancetrans.com/ for $750. This kit has strenthened parts for the W58. I'd wonder how strong it can hold.

I think the W58 has telltale signs of when it's going to give. Although you can't account or really forsee it failing from just hard driving / abuse...it'll give on you out of nowhere if you're not treating it with respect. What I mean by telltale signs is, my w58 in particular has a slight whine to it in every gear but 4th. I was told it was countershaft wear, since 4th has a 1:1 ratio is on the mainshaft if im not mistaken. So far no problems, after 5 years of driving (~17k miles lol) and a few runs in the 1/8th mile on the stock 2JZ. We'll see how it holds with a better clutch on my stock twin 1JZ in the near future.

If we have enough interests, perhaps we can have a group buy on this. We'll save some bucks.

If you contact them, they'll tell you they have it. I believe their catalog isn't updated.
