Default Two easy interior questions

I just purchased a 97 sc300. Two small issues with the car are the climate control and I think the solar sensor?

The LCD works, but the lighting appears to be out on the left and right of the climate control LCD. I would like to change out whatever the problem is, whether that is bulbs or LEDs. I would have no problem having to solder in new parts. This is a 97 model, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Second, there is, I think it's called a solar sensor, where the dash meets the A-pillars on both sides of the car(right at the windhsield on the inside). The passenger one appears to be a blackish/purplish orb, which is how my supras look as well. The drivers side is white on top and is not orb shaped. My supras both had the blackish purplish orb on both sides. I don't know if the drivers side sensor has had the top knocked off or if this is correct. Any information on pictures on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Contact OLT by PM. He can help you with the lighting issue. If you want to fix yourself, then here is the link, with step by step instructions. This also requires the use of buying an aftermarket LCD off of Ebay. They go for around 125 plus shipping. This is only required if the LCD is drying out!

Dont know about the sensor on the dash, SORRY!

Thanks for the reply. I had found those instructions, but I was not sure if my car was different since those instructions say 92-96 on them and my car is a 97. I was also hoping I could source the bulbs somewhere and not have to pay $125 for them. Does anyone know where to find these bulbs for a 97+?

my 97 SC's light sensor is just the way you described it. i'm not sure if it's supposed to be different, but i'm not really too bothered by it since i normally don't use the auto mode for the headlights.

the teo "orb" sensor are different. one if purple and thats for the security system. the one on the driver side of the car thats just flat is for the head lights. when you put the switch to "auto" and cover the sensor your headlight should turn on.

as far as a/c talk to OLT. brian does good work
