Default Remove stock projector?

For those of you that have removed the stock projector from the headlight.

I have already removed and put back the projector several times but I think I'm doing it the hard way. I know that you need to turn each of the adjusting screws (8mm) right until they are loose, but my problem is the third mounting point (the ball and joint thing).

In most pictures and descriptions, I see that people took the joint off of the ball (leaving the ball attached inside the headlight). Well, I tried pulling and twisting it out and it won't budge and I don't feel like snapping this 15 yr old piece of plastic. So, what I have been doing is using needle nose pliers to slowly unscrew the ball from the headlight; this is a very slow and tedious process.

How do you remove the ball from the joint (twisting? tools?)? Is it supposed to be this stubborn to remove?

What about putting it back on? Do you just tighten the adjustment screws and then snap the ball back into the joint?

why are you trying to remove the projector? are you doing a retrofit?
if so, unscrew it from the back, use an open ended wrench, i believe a 10 mm.
than after you get it out, get a screw driver, squeeze both sides to remove the balljoint, but i dont think that is necessary.

drill a hole in the back of the housing to get to the two screws holding the socket onto the ball and fill them in with caulk. be generous with the caulk
