Is it the diff?
Tonight I went to a friends house to swap my wheels off with another set of wheels. After I was done I decided to go for a road test and when I had the car in drive and proceeded to move the car it barley wanted to move on its own when gas pedal was pressed it would move. But even worst it made a loud grinding noise. At first I thought wheels were rubbing real bad or something. But then when my friend went behind the car he said he can hear the loud grinding noise coming fro mthe back but definitely in the middle of the car...
I have search other threads about rear diffs and people said that theirs just popped but no one said that theres made a loud grinding noise or anything close to that. What do you guys think it ?
P.S. I really don't think its that tranny because it goes into gear smoothly

I have the same issue, change out diff and still the same. Went to a different mechanic after the last one made the wrong diagnosis, and this one said it was the out-shaft or out-link from the tranny to the drive shaft. Not sure how accurate this diagnosis is but, hopefully it's the right one. Maybe guys in the performance section can guide us.

are they custom wheels? if so, the lug nuts sometimes need to be re-torqued after 20-25 miles when the wheels are first put on or they can get loose. i had it happen to me while driving on the interstate and on my street recently after i put my wheels back on. it makes a grinding/knocking sound.

NO they are original Lexus 15" rims and it is just weird beacuse all I did was just jack up the car change the rims and put it back down and wanted to test drive the car and out of no where the car barely wants to move unless I really gas it.... and when it moves it makes a really loud grinding noise....
What wheels did you have before? Are your brakes stock? Check your dust shields. Try going back to the other wheels. Thats the easiest thing to do to narrow the search. Or ebrake could be stuck. Just trying to give some suggestions.
check ebrake and dustshields.
diffs usually whine when they wear out and get "loose"
a grinding diff is when its too tight and there is nothing you can do with age to make it tighter.
tight and loose refers to the clearance of the pinion and ring gears.
