SC300 side window installation help
The window regulator mechanism on my driver's side window broke.Since I have replaced regulators on my Camry many years ago without too much trouble, I decided to tackle the one on my '93 SC300. I went by the Repair Manual for disassembly and managed to get everything apart including removing the glass. As expected, a piece of plastic broke off on the regulator so I bought a new assembly and installed it as per the manual. The big problem I'm having now is getting the window back into place. The manual makes it sound easy but I can't get it into place without forcing it and possibly breaking the glass. My friend came over to help and we gave up after 2 hours. Maybe someone out there has done this before and can offer suggestions. The manual seems to show the glass being installed from the inside. I forgot which side I removed it from (they say the mind is the second thing to go) but it seems to go in better from the outside. Unfortunately, it doesn't go in far enough. Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks for the reponse. Great stuff. I wish that I would have checked CL before following the manual instructions for door disassembly. I haven't looked at CL in a few years. Kind of busy tinkering with my 1966 Mustang. Were you able to attach the window to the regulator after you secured the guide bracket to the glass or did you attach it first and then tilted the window to direct it into the bracket?
