SC300 Randomly Dies
My car has been randomly dying and losing all power. The dash will flash and then the engine and electricity turns off. It always starts back up with no issues. It goes weeks without any issues and then it’ll start dying and then it will go away again.
This morning it happened again but only the engine turned off, the power steering went out, and the check engine light came on. It started back up and the check engine light went away. Two times out of the dozens it’s died it wouldn’t start and took 5-10 minutes to start back up.
I’ve done some research and have heard that the MAF sensor has issues, the ECU capacitors leak, or the fuel pump ECU goes bad. Could it be any of those?
Ive taken it to the Lexus dealer but they couldn’t figure it out. Do you guys have any recommendations on what to do? I’ll post a video of it happening, the video cuts off before it completely dies but it would start for 10 minutes. Thanks!
I had similar problems until I had my ECU repaired and did a tune up. No problems in six years. There are a number of responsible people (shops) that can do the work. Even if it is not the ECU it needs to be gone through noting the age. A friend repaired mine but he does not repair for the general public so I would recommend Tannin they are the biggest and best since they actually have cars that they can test their repairs in. Good Luck.
