Default Shock/Strut Question

Hey guys,

What would the effect be of simply adding toxico struts/shocks to the SC. Will the early morning creaks and moans go away? Also, what is the cost of installation.

The "morning creaks" are the rubber sway bar bushings moving against the sway bar and they creak in the morning or in cold weather. Simply spray silicone lubricant (non-petro based so it wont rot the rubber) into both sides of the front and rear sway bar bushings and noise will be gone for about 3 months. Use the little straw shooter that is taped to the can and you can get the silicone where it needs to be without making a mess.
If you need struts, replace them, but the sound you describe is not the struts.

You can figure between $280 to $400 for the two front struts. An alignment has to be done of either the front or rear if struts are changed.

I had a sweak/creak and it started AFTER my Tokico's were installed in the front. Come to find out is was the three tower bolts on the strut tower that needed to be re-torqued after about a week of running. I guess the suspension settles (spring) and this can have an affect on the torque of those three bolts.

BTW, if you are thinking at all about lowering your car, this is the time to do it as the springs come out to change the struts. ALso, this is the time to change or replace the dust boots that protect the upper strut rods from dust and splatter.

Stoplight, my car also makes that horrible creeking noise in the morning and i'm assuming it's the same thing you're refering to. so hopefully ur solution can fix my problem. My question is where can i get some of this silione lubricant?

Wink Squeaks

Hi guys,

Regarding the squeaky suspension, I replaced my front sway bar bushings with greasable polyurethane, it did not help the noise on my 93 SC400 at all. I think the squeaks are coming from the front strut upper mounts, will find out for sure when the weather warms up so I can change the oem struts to Tokicos.
