I'm experiencing the same thing...
Though I do live in San Diego and A/C is somethin I can survive without... for now.

Try tapping the LCD screen with your fingers....works for me.

check your fuse box down by the drivers kick panel REAL good, dimes to donuts you got a loose one or a bad connection down in the fuse box. Previous owners may have wired a radar detector or security system down there and messed up a fuse and/or connector, not at all uncommon. When one electrical items does not work, ALWAYS check to see what else runs off that fuse as well, to see if that item is working or not.
