Default SC400 Rear Diff..... help please.

My Rear differential is destroyed. It's in the shop right now. Has anyone had this go out on them? Any aftermarket diffs out there? What should I expect to pay for an OEM diff. Any difference from the years for the Diff? I have a 92...

i have blown up my stock diff in my 93 sc300 5sp.

i got a stock diff same day for 300. it was actually to much. you can find stock diffs sell from 100 bucks and up.

recently i bought the whole rear subframe from an SC400 with control arms, brakes, and diff for 175.

how did you destroy it anyways?

there are plenty of factory and aftermarket options. search for an lsd diff online or in the search option on this forum. any supra NA and any SCx00 diff will work. the only difference is the gear ratios. that will affect your speedo calibration. if you get a diff form a 5spd or auto sc300 the gearing is higher but that translates into better acceleration, not that noticeable, and a bit worse gas mileage. it also cut down your top speed a bit. your speedo will still read a supposed 60mph but you wont be actually going 60. it will be more like 55ish.

an aftermarket lsd diff option for out car is, but not all, are trd, kaaz, tomei.

what is exactly broken in the diff? did you break a spider gear or what?

id use this opportunity to install a lsd. yeah it would cost a couple hundred more, but while you're fixing it, might as well go for the gravy.

It may be easy to rebuild you won't know until you see what the damage is. Very possibly just bearings.
