Default gm synchromesh regular or Friction Modified

I just called the gm dealer to buy some gm synchromesh and he said he had two kinds regular synchromesh and a newer Friction Modified gm syncromesh that had a friction reducer? of some sort in it? now I am confused as to which one to get. Anyone?

I can't answer your question but in case you didn't know, Auto Zone carries Pennzoil Syncromesh and I believe it's cheaper than GM's.

what ever you do, don't put it in. It isn't thick enough for the W58. I tried some royal purple synchromax in my car and paid a dear price. Only a week and i got a lot of loose shavings in the fluid . Changed to 75W-140 and works great.

Read Blizzy's post about viscosity a few posts down.
