donate? what the heck? take it to a different shop. I have no idea why he cant get it started, or even, why donate? if you dont have money, sell it. Better something than nothing.
Good luck.
what is the problem anyways? maybe we can help?....
the problem was, i had baught a new battery from Canadian Tire, and they put the wrong label on the battery, and it was a higher voltage then my soarer needed, right when i plugged it in, it zapped my car completly. the shop keep has being looking threw everything on the car, checked everything. theyre is spark, there is fuel, but the motor just wont turn over, and the starter kicks in too and everything, we just dont know what the problem is, the shop keep said that this is the first time he has ever scence a problem like this in his 40years of mecanics... this guy is known to working on classic Jags, and mercedes. and doesnt know what is wrong with the car. I've talked to all the JDM shops, no one can tell what the problem is... its a mistery to all... he said if the car isnt fixed by monday, i need to pick it up and bring it to the college where im staying... (sudbury Ontario) Canada.. and the college will be taking possetion of it.. i will surely miss this car really.. and i've called around for an ecu, and no JDM shop is willing to sell me a Automatic 1jz ecu... they dont want to part it out.. witch is retarded... but i understand them... anyways the matter of the fact is... is that i am trying to figure out the problem but if the problem is figured out by a certain amount of time i will be forced to sell my car.. im a college student on a low budget anyways... so it sucks!!! anyways thanks for the support guys i will keep you guys posted on where its going... oh by the way im 15th fastest sc... so keep that in mind when i sell it :P:P:P im kidding!!! thanks again guys!!!
SO what do you mean they put the wrong label on the battery? If that were the case I'd be in court 2 weeks ago on a lawyer that works without a deposit.
Seriously donating the car is a dumb choice. Why not just give them the money in your bank account. Look on ebay and get yourself an ECU. I put my money that it's fried. Your mechanic must not know jack about cars if he can't get it to start. He's use to working on junk cars that are in the shop most of there lives anyway. Find a new shop, get an ECU, and enjoy your car on a student budget.
i just ordered an ecu... and its cause if i donate my car to the school, i have a place to stay next year free of charge and my next semesters left for my schooling and my books are paid off...
Forget everyone trying to buy it from you. I had a very similar problem, car kept on just turning over but would never actually start. Took a whole month to get it done. Mechanics don't know #%!@ about these cars...they were dumbfounded for a while. Turned out to be the ECU. Don't get rid of it!!!! These are going to be collectibles one day and they are worth holding on to.
lol if they put in the battery they are at fault and owe it to you to replace the parts or fix the vehicle there are legal ramafications if they mess up the car hence why shops charge what we charge specialty shopd such as mine charge 75 per hour minimum and if something breaks because we broke it and are at fault then it comes from our pocket

well if they pay ur school and living then its worth donating... GL you can alwasy buy one after you graduate

For real! I somewhat agree to that too. I think you should try to get the ecu in her first and see what happens and goes from there.
With my experience (which isn't very much), it seems that if the ecu is fried, then only cylinder 1 has spark. The rest of the cylinders won't have spark.
Good news, the shop called and they told me that the car only needs an igniter ship... (Ignition module) or what ever it is... so it was ordered.. and the car on the road for next week
