Default Gated Shifter woes

I just picked up a 1999 SC400 gated shifter assembly without the wood trim. I paid $50.

The problem is, that its out of a 99 400. I have a 1992 SC300.

Now, on JesLet's thread its purely wiring. I need a definitive answer on that the 400 shifter will work with my 300. What conversion type stuff will I need to do?

Why would you get the shifter assy for the SC400 5spd auto when you have an SC300 with 4spd auto?

If you can't figure that out.....Then you shouldn't be doing this mod. Not trying to be a tool, but that should be obvious.

Mechanically, it will work but you will have a missing gear which will be "L"..So on the gated shifter, 2 gear on the shifter would be L and L would be a missing gear, it doesn't shift into L...3 on the plate would be 2 gear o/d off 4 gear would be 3rd gear o/d off, and d would be overdrive on...

The hardest part is to get it to fit mechanically...Mine took about 4 hours to get it to shift correctly...But it didn't do it without help...Its a very diffcult mod, I would not recommend to anyone who has never done this before..
