Foreign Correspondant
Hey guys, intro-ed myself in the official thread... however figured I'd open up a topic and bull**** on about future plans
I'm Tim... 30... from Australia
Bought my 92 V8 Soarer (or SC400 as you know em) in sept last year as a bit of a change in direction... previously owned a skyline which at the time I got sick of working on and just opted to get something slow and reliable I could cruise around in.
The Soarer fitted that bill perfectly... and whilst I do miss the Skyline, I figure this better suits my needs anyways, and I'm less likely to lose my license in it
Anyways... bought it originally for $9k (cheap at the time by our local standards) and didnt really do much to it except **** off the 18"s and go for wider 17's (only letdown with the 17's is the clearcoat peeling, but that will be attended to)
Other than that, it came with Bilstein suspension (which feels like I need a kidney belt to drive it at times - Queensland Roads are ****house at the best of times)... carbon look dash trim... twin 2.5" exhausts... and thats about it
Unfortunately, as I dont have undercover parking either at work or at home, the harsh aussie sun has baked the clearcoat into a crust which powders off at the touch of a finger... which means... either drive around in a fugly looking ride... or remove the finger and start spening a lil cash on it
Well.. here's some pics in time order from when I got it:

anyways... plans now are:
add full BN kit similar to:

respray in flat black
chrome vinyl down side (thick stripe kinda style... hard to describe, nothing over the top... basically just to complimet chrome trimming around windows and polished lip on rims... break up the all the black a bit)
powdercoat rim centres in black (leave polished lip and studs as is)
later on upgrade back to 18's with a lot more dish
add aftermarket headlights and tail lights

add nightshade to tail lights
and thats about it
not worried about spending too much money under the hood... its too heavy to be considered much more than a cruiser imo... and I need the points on my license anyways
so yeah... thats it

quite surprised, those 17s look bigger but i think it's just the large face of the wheels that's tricking me. Not feelin the new lighting fixtures, i would just get some 97s and call it a day.
Question: does that 4.0GT badge on the fender standard on all V8 Soarers or was it just something added on by the previous owner?

thanks for the input guys.
nah, she isnt my girlfriend... she's good to look at, but thats about it if you get my drift...
the rims, yeah I do get that comment quite a bit about them... for 17"s they do have a bit of an optical illusion going making them look larger
thanks for the advice on the lighting.... the rears... well I just hate the standard rear indicators. I figured that whilst these ones do look ricey, a couple of sprays over with nightshade would darken them up and make them a lot less noticeable and hopefully a lot more cosmetically appealing.
the fronts... havent seen too many cars that they work well on, but thought that it could look alright against the flat black.... a whole heaps of guys did a group buy on them down here... I might wait until one of them gets sick of theirs and then sells them cheap... at least that way there's no great financial loss if I get them on and dont like it. just sick of mine going yellow all the time and looking completely ratsht
Oh, and those 4.0GT badges do come standard on the lower spec V8 model... the higher spec model with leather seats, airbag suspension, and tv screen came with 4.0GT where mine is, and "limited" under that
Probably going to give those badges the flick... and putting normal V8 badging there... seen some on an audi which looked quite nice (no audi branding, just the letter V and the number 8, in similar font style to whats already used)

not a fan of the supra rear tails, they belong to a supra not the sc. i've never seen any sc with those tails pull it off. then again yours is a soarer not an sc so..lol..
OT: are those puppies real? they look kinda...hard

Its the dark green that so many of them came out in... as for soarer vs sc... same thing really... I know the supra-style lights like they have more rice in them than the asian food aisle at the supermarket... but hopefully darkened up with a few coats of nightshade, it might make them bearable and blend in with the car better, rather than look like some tacky afterthought
if not, I will just onsell them... wont be hard to do
4.0GT badges came off tonight.... damn the adhesive left there is a mess... looks like some of it will be there until the panels get sanded back for prep... its hardened up and is going nowhere in the meantime
oh, and those puppies are 100% genuine aftermarket!
