Well basically i have to wrestle with my ignition to release my key. I am not a noob, the steering wheel is not locked, and my shifter is in park. My key gets locked in ACC and it take sometimes more then ten minutes to get it out, it started this afternoon. every time right before i can get it out, i can hear little ticks, as if it is aligning the groove so the the key will release, but it take awhile before that happens. My alarm still works, the doors still locks, my car still starts up and i can drive it. Please any help will be great appreciated.

 

Maybe you need to get a new/used ignition assembly?

 

I agree...I had the issue with the car sticking in drive while I was parked once and wouldnt start...but thats about it!!

 

similar thing happened to me and turn out to be the shift lock box under shifter
