Default Toyota or Lexus Diagnostics

I just got in a wreck (a SUV backed into me in a parking lot and T-boned my car) and I would like to run some tests on the damage.

In terms of running a diagnostic test, would a Lexus dealership be any better at detecting problems than a Toyota dealership?

Or do you guys think they have the same diagnostic capabilities?

diagnostics are done on the engine/electronics, not the body.. any competent body shop should be able to determine the amount of damage done

Thanks for the response. Yes, of course diagnostics are run on the engine. However, due to the impact, I am concerned that the collision may have affected the engine or electronics.

I am wondering it there is a difference between the Lexus and Toyota diagnostics themselves.

if electronics were damaged then you would most likely get a check engine light. just test all the electronics for their functionality. if it works then youre all good to go.

Aphex - my belief is that there is no risk to engine or electronics as a result of the impact for 2 reasons; 1. doesnt sound like the impact was at a high rate of speed to cause significant electronic/mechanical impact 2. there were little to no electrical/mechanical components affected at the point of impact.

To answer your basic question...Yes I believe the fundamental diagnostics are the same between the two brands. In your case I would be more concerned with structural/frame damage as T-Bones are difficult to fix correctly depending on the extent of the damage and have all parts operate well afterwards.

Good Luck!
