Nice to have you back! I was wondering who was going to answer all these questions.
So can anyone confirm that you will have unwanted problems if running your auto ecu with this swap like rpm acting weird as mentioned earlier?

....... Your car will run fine, no problems, maybe a check engine code, maybe not. Look, this is how it works, when you are auto, the ecu will retard timing when under heavy load so it can shift up/down accordingly without a serius jerk, which puts stress on the trans, bushings, the car in general, and provides a somewhat uncomfortable ride. This is what I was talking about on the highway, the ecu trying to retard the timing to shift. But probably a more likely reason is that with a gearing of less than 1:1, i was just simply going too slow in 5th gear. So when you convert to manual trans, the ecu retard strickly for shifting is no longer needed because you decide exactly when and how to shift. What I should have stressed more was that a manual ecu could benefit you more performance wise. Being NA it probably won't matter a bit, but I think if your are boosted it might give you better timing curve.Even if it turns out to be true the difference will probably be minimal, but, it's all the little things that count. I am still trying to research it to find out a definate to see if it still pulls additional timing on top of the already existing retard for a shift, still thinking its an auto car, after you have converted and are still using an auto ecu.the thing is if the CEL comes on for a auto trans code which it probobly will because the trans is no longer there lol, then i wont pass Emissions in Illinois.
they test all OBDII cars here and what they look for is a CEL.

OOOoooo I got ya. Well I didn't have a single code pop up. I think a few others reported codes on later models though. I am OBD1 w/ gte, don't know man.Originally Posted by 97-SC300

So is a 5spd w58 transmission crossmember really necesarry? Or can you do this with the auto crossmember and w58 trans mount?

I would like to know as well. Also, does the crossmember have to come from a w58 sc300, or are the mk3 and/or mk4 w58 crossmembers identical?Originally Posted by 97-SC300

i hope someone knows a definate answer to this. i called a lexus dealer and they told me that both the auto and 5 speed cross members from 1992-1997 have the same part number and there is only one available so i can assume that they are identical. unless someone has some proof lol lol

i had a question? iam planning to swap a mkIII supra w58 (non turbo trans) to my 93 sc300. so a mkIII supra manual driveshaft wont work? what driveshaft would i have to get, a 1jz one? I am not 100% sure but do i need to swap the belthousing to a 1jz too, also would i need a 1jz flywheel and clutch?
i thought my 240sx auto manual swap was hard. time to search for more manual swap threads

great info man just read though 3 pages blah cant make it to the last. clocking of the pedals for mkiii pedals just saved me the trouble you went though.mkiii parts are so much easier to find than mkiv supras and scs

2JZGTE w/ R154 = 7MGTE Clutch + 1JZGTE Flywheel + (may need 1JZGTE Bell housing)
2JZGTE w/ V160 = 2JZGTE Clutch + 2JZGTE Flywheel
2JZGTE w/ W58 = 2JZGE Clutch + 2JZGE Flywheel
1JZGTE w/ W58 = 2JZGE Clutch + 2JZGE Flywheel

Also if you guys need a 1JZGTE chromoly lightweight flywheel. I picked up one from www.gripforce.com for $198. It weighs 13.5 LBS and is solid one-piece billet chromoly steel. Its a new item so I would call to order.
Holy freaking cow! LMFAO it is absolutely unbelieable how much this thread has been messed with by moderators. First they delete half of my stuff, so i delete the rest of it and moved it to another forum. Now it's magically all back to place! HAHAHA.
Agreed, this should be a sticky, anybody else notice the ads popping up in the middle of posts and covering them?
