Talking A key question, looking for a key answer !

I am sure some of you have replaced the little battery in your ignition key which actuates your doors.
I have removed the screw, but when I try to lift the black plastic half of the key, it doesnt lift beyond 1/4".
I DONT want to force it, is there some trick or special way to remove the key half to replace the battery ?
Thanks for your help.

Use a really small screw driver and work your way around the little black piece under the key outer cover. Inside is the chip and battery. Do not lift the chip, or you will have to re-solder a wire that will break away. I did checking for debris and to check solder joints. Take a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol and clean whatever you see, a lot of gunk gets in that key housing riding around in your pocket. Also, remove the button (slides up to get out) and the little rubber boot and clean the button. That receives pressure and movement, so that is where most likely dirt to be. Make sure you put the button in right when assembling, it fits in a certain way.
