i never expected the production numbers on these sc's to be so low, and before i wanted a 95 5spd but now that i see the weight difference I'm not complaining from a 92 owner.

 

As far as the increase, my guess would be the improvement in side impact. In 1994, new standards were set by the dept of transportation for stricter side impact safety that all car companies had to meet by 1997.

As for why the weight dropped in 96' and 97, I don't know. Maybe Lexus installed lighter parts in response.

 

Anyone with new weight updates?

 

Took a few more pounds out, weighed 3,200 without me in it (down from 3,220). Still has back seats in it even. Eventually I'll get a carbon fiber hood, and I've got the Greg Welds (still need the fronts) to go on at some point too which will save some weight.

Also going to be taking off the Superdrager and putting a lighter weight catback on it at some point too.

 

Mine still weighs about what a Lexus weighs. Thanks for asking
