Default Two time IS300 owner, considering SC300TT

Hi,

I have been a member here for a long time now, since 2000 when I got my first SBM IS300 (so many good memories with that car!)

I had it for a good 3 years, returned it since it was a lease, tried out a couple other cars:

and...

And got an 05 IS300 and decided to go the aftermarket Turbo route:

And now I drive one of these

So, I have been looking around for a clean SC300 with a 2jzgte nicely swapped, I have found a 97 which I believe it pretty clean.. has 160k on the entire car.. but 30k on the motor/turbos/tranny. It is on eBay, and I am planning on driving to the seller and checking out the car. Here is the ebay link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus...spagenameZWDVW

I am not a "hands on" type of guy and I really do not want or need a big headache or problems right now. My hands are full with other priorities and it was always one of my dreams to find a nicely done SC300 2jzgte swap complete with the original ecu, and 6-spd Getrag.

I was thinking about getting rid of my evo and having this as my new project. I just wanted to get some opinions from the experienced SC300 TT guys out there. Of course if I decide to buy, I will have it checked out thoroughly at a local Toyota dealer in the city. Your opinions really count.

Thanks again.

Wow, what a good collection of cars that you have owned, most of which handles better than our SCs. I hope the SC's driving dynamics won't bore you since you have previously owned an NSX, S2000, and an EVO,

I'm not saying you won't enjoy an SC, I love mine, but coming from another boosted IS guy.......... it's a whole new world. If I had to do it over, I'd have continued building my IS.

A couple of things to watch out for.

1. You get an Untercooler, which I am guessing is a more modern version of an Intercooler

2. When you are selling a $15,000 car I would expect a large description of the car with everything it has, maintenance, problems, history etc. A three line description with a spelling mistake would be enough to send me running in the other direction

3. One feedback over a year ago in which he bought something is not enough for me.

As for a modded SC. I have one and it is a serious PITA. Last time I will go FI on a car.

Default Thank you..

Thank you for all of your valued advise. I have changed my mind and will stick with my current EVO. Thanks again for your time.

Hopefully I will become a Lexus member yet again once I decide on an IS/GS

I have never driven an IS but an 1st gen IS owner, who claimed to have driven both, once told me that an IS chassis is far superior to the "dated" SCxxx
