rats destroyed the harness on my buddys m3 twice!!

the second time they ate the wires the car ran fine until we were at a gas station about an hour out of town, then after filling gas the car wouldnt start at all and everything started blinking. sometimes the wires are just barely together when theyre done with them and som spirited driving will do the rest.
damn rats!!

Default bleh

well after doin some research i just remembered that my car is OBDII so the paperclip technique i used wont do squat in pulling codes... ill probably find a shop to do it for me, im still betting on some chewed wires.

I also talked with the body shop. Guy said that covering the car doesnt let all the fumes from the fresh paint to evaporate, leaving a rough finish. The blistering and bubbling, however, sounds like painter error, im goin to take it to him tomorrow to see what will happen....

Month ***** kept my Hatchback safe in an old wooden barn in the middle of the woods for an entire winter. No Joke.

As for the paint it honestly looks like the car was improperly prepped. Looks like there was gasoline/stripper/caustic chemical residue on the car then the car was painted. Ober the time of storage it bubbled the paint. I say this cause there was on time I painted a valve cover and did not fully clean it off and after paint it bubbled the same exact way.

Default Update

I got the trouble codes from auto zone today. Got general engine misfire (P0300) and Misfire on Cyl. #6 (P0306). Upon a closer look i found a few more nuts sitting on top of the valve cover towards Cyl. 6. The car is very lurchy when i hit the gas, and is especially apparent when goin up inclines. I'm going to take a closer look tomorrow when the weather is nice and i have some time on my hands. Im guessing it might be a spark plug wire thats been chewed on. If anyone can chime in on this i appreciate it.

I also found a few more new nuts in places where ive already cleaned up so this little guy is still around. Little bastard.....

Default The extent of a Chimpunk's Rampage...

Pulled the rear spark plug cover and not only did i find more nuts i found my problem...

As you can see, The little guy COMPLETELY SEVERED the wire to cyl. 6.

I pulled the front one off to clean out more debris and i found another bad wire, this time to cyl. 3

So now i have two plug wires i gotta replace....already went to NAPA cuz they live down the street from me, but the plug boots they had were too long, so that was bogus.....

called a Lexus Stealership and asked how much for each. I think it was about $18 for cyl. 3 and $23 for cyl. 6., but only cyl. 3 was available. screw that...

For the hell of it i called a Toyota Stealership and asked for the same thing for a supra....it was $13 for cyl. 3 and $18 for cyl. 6, but they didnt tell me they wern't available till i got there....still i LOLed at the price diff. between the two.

Already ordered from Carson ($28.60 w/ shipping) which is a bargain compared to the other places. I just i wasn't willing to do more searching around town and i probably would have ended up buying a whole set, even though the other 4 wires were just about brand new. I'm pissed right now and suddenly have the urge to go hunting for squirrels....

HAHA, my friend left his FC rx-7 sitting one winter, in the spring we started working on it and the air box was slammed full of acorns..........and FC's have HUGE air boxes. There had to been at least 2lbs of acorns in there.

Glad to see you tracked down the issue and it seems to be an easy fix.

Now it's time to set up some squirrel traps.
