Please explain Soarers to me
As far as I know, yes. The only thing that matters in Canada is that it is 15 years or older. When I was car shopping I had a choice between paying 8k (give or take) for a low mileage SC *if* I was lucky enough to find one, or being able to select a Soarer with the qualities I wanted from a wide selection available in Japanese auction houses for around 10k. Considering the GTE was only available in Soarers and the manual transmission was much more common in Soarers it seemed like a no brainer.
How I wish the Aussie car import rules were like that. Basically parallel importing is illegal here for road use (e.g. I can't import an Aristo V300 because they sell the GS300 as a local model).
Not officially. Only the USA and Japan had the Soarer/SC, the rest are private imports into the countries (like my two were... and yes I have owned two of these unusual Lexus turbo cars
).

).You Aussies have some cool cars yourselves, not Lexus cool, but otherwise cool.

Doesn't it come with a V-8?
I thought it was a cool car. I snapped this pic in New Zealand.
How funny, I experienced it completely other way around.. I grew up in Japan and only knew Soarer. Later, I came to U.S. and tried looking for one only to find out that the counterpart of Soarer is Lexus SC. What's worse, they never offered it in TT.

).Yeah, the Commodore utes have a choice of either a 3.8L V6 or a 5.7L V8, the new ones have a 6.0L V8 in them (they're monsters).
people who drives lexus sc 300 400 here in the states order the lexus soarer emblems from japan or ebay and they just place in on their lexus sc400. thats maybe why u see some here. just so ppls will think its a soarer frm japan

why wud someone turn a sc into a truck? not cool!! but no offense just saying what i think
Actually most sc owners could not care less about the emblems. Now as for the engine and gearbox thats different story .1j sc's great cars. We might not have the dated instrument panel or air suspension like the soarer but we do have nice leather seats and GTE engines under the hood here .
.
There are getting to be lots of Soarers in Canada now, seen as the importation rules are different. Once the vehicle is 15 years old, all it needs is some paper work, an inspection, and in some cases, modifications to pass the inspection. Typically the modifications are related to the glass and lights, though most cars that have a North American equivalent usually are okay (Soarers pass w/o mod, Skylines don't). Things like the lack of EGR and stuff do not cause any problem at the inspection.
Theres one for sale in the classifieds
