Bean, don't get worked up, all I was saying is what you just said anyway, apex seals don't take detonation as well as piston motors do. You're talking about running lots of boost through a finicky motor that already has a tendency to run hot, thus tending towards detonation. Every FD3S owner keeps half an eye on the water temp gauge, which you know of course. You're bordering on sounding like a guy that belongs on the RX7 forums, and downtalking the Supra, which is the ultimate power production platform, bar none, you must agree or you'd be working on your RX7 instead of turboing the SC. RX7's are definitely fast, I had a friend who's R1 used to keep up with my 11:1 TPI small block, but man that thing rode like absolute crap, must've lost all my fillings, felt like 700lb springs. The pro's are definitely turning nice numbers, but Siguel is by no means a low-budget operation, my man lives in Bayamon, not far from some of the shops, it's real poor down there, but the racers aren't as ghetto as they'd like you to believe, they have some corporate funding and the like, Siguel's car isn't exactly a backyard effort. Aren't Yallon and Khan and all those other rx7.com guys running upgraded 3mm apex seals? Paisley and Ten will be in the sevens soon enough, and these guys came up same as everyone else, Craig is only 'captain TRD' as of late, not always. Oh, and you know i'm gonna mention BLAST, 7.38 @184mph.

Thats cool on Blast's time but it still isn't the fastest

siguels car has run 7.20s before I believe or low 7.30s...

and LOTS of people have claimed to have seen him run a 6.90 a couple months ago

fast but not fast enough

Yeah the FDs do ride like ****; and thats why they'd never be my daily driver; but GOD I'd love to have one for weekends... they are so much fun to drive its ridiculous. Its basically a car on rails. And with a coilover setup they cannot be touched. Even by full out road race 800hp Supras (comparing to a otherwise stock FD).

But there's plenty of FDs in the 9s and 10s on the street just like the Supras. I used to think Supras were be all end all; but the truth is; RX-7s are just as fast. Yup and they require more maintenance, you are dead on the money. But its so much fun to drive, its worth it

And I'm not gettin worked up; I've been defending the RX-7 for several weeks now; the dumb****s at freshalloy.com are mainly nissan *****es and are bashing the RX-8 and RX-7 on how unreliable they are. And they aren't; its how the owner takes care of them. If you take care of it; it takes care of you. If you don't take care of it; you're going to pop a motor.
