huh? no i mean an adapter so i can use a different make of tranny, so i dont have to have all the electronic computers that go with the original tranny on it. Theres not exactly that much room for the stuff on a street rod...
^^^^^he means its moved because you posted in the wrong part of the forum. they make an adapter plate to put a gm style trans on a 2jz. there isn't one for v8 and a gm trans like a turbo 400. at least i dont know of any. sounds like time to make your own.
Check out the thread linked in my sig. It will have more information that you bargained for about the UZ trans swap options.
A GM tranny adapter for the SC would require custom fabrication. To swap a transmisson from a JZ engine, Eric -the poster above- sells the only trans adapter made in the states for the swap.
On an n/a motor, I would suggest a W58 transmission since they are cheap and easy to find (and they hold all an n/a 1UZ can make). A W58 swap could be done for ~$2k if you play your cards right.
If you intend to boost, the R154 swap (which I am performing in a matter of weeks) is a good option. It is relatively inexpensive and the parts needed for the swap are somewhat available. The R154 swap would be $3-4k; but, the R154 can hold some 700wtq with the right clutch.
If you intend to go for the transcendentally amazing transmission, the 6spd from the Supra TT can hold anything you can throw at the 1UZ with all the gear ratios you would ever need. The swap requires a hell of a lot of parts, and it will run you ~$9k cover to cover in all likelihood; but, it makes for the ultimate 1UZ gearbox swap.
