I have to say no. Premium gas, not great gas mileage, expensive insurance...

The Sc4 get's better gas mileage because it takes little effort to get going and even less effort to KEEP going. Most people I know with Sc3's always have their foot on the gas going. The Sc4's coast almost everywhere they go.

The difference is not night and day, but there is about a 2-3mpg difference depending on your driving habits. The people who never notice much difference are the people who keep their foot in it so depends on who you ask.

Insurance is gravy on a 15 yr old car with a 6 cyl. I think My lady was paying $38 per month on hers for liability and $49 per month on full coverage.

SC's average between 19 mpg if poorly maintained and 24 mpg with proper maintenance.

As you may or may not know, the SC's are VERY reliable cars. If you are just trying to cruise around, get a higher model (98'+) Sc400. More power and are really smooth. If you get the 300, get a manual.

I prefer the 400, hence why i have one . As for gas mileage, i usually average around 22mpg.

My SC400 gets about 20-23 mpg depending on how I drive
My SC300 Gets about 15mpg it runs rich at low end

My SC400 insurance cost for full coveraged is through the roof!
My SC300 insurance cost for liability is cheap!

My 2 cents
