hello everyone my name is carlos and i am new to the lexus sc scene. i've always been a honda head for as long as i can remember, but i wanted to try something new. i found a 1992 lexus sc400 that i fell in love with. i just purchased some used rota P45f's rims that came with very good tires it was a steal for the price. the rims are 18x8.5 all round the rears have 285/35s and the fronts have 265/35s i went through most of this thread to gain a little more info on what tires work on these cars. my question is that i want to lower the car on some tanabe lowering springs till i can afford some good coilovers. will i have problems with the 285 out back and the 265s in the front if i do this? do i need any major fender modifications to make this combo work? i know most people use the 265s for the rears so i'm probably pushing it by putting it on the front. i would also like to keep the 285/35s for the rear. any info would be greatly appreciated. and again i like to say hello to all the sc peeps.

That's the closest to what you want MandapatC, I believe Ueno definitely has modded front and rears specially if you run 10" wide wheels. a lot of guys rub on 245s up front when they lower it, so I believe you will need fender mods definitely. Posting offsets would help too.

That might actually tuck a little bit. I would do 245/35/19 instead.

Thanks for reply Cherplex. I also have a choice of going +18 in the back. Just curious, why did you suggest 245 over a 255 tire?

8.5 is somewhat narrow for a 255. if balloony looking tire to wheel (as opposed to mild stretch/stretched) look is ok with you then it's fine. I'd only run 255s if I have at least 9".

I'd go with the 18 offset for the back since you run an 8.5"

Need help

Im going to be buying some wheels

now i need tires, i would like a stretched look, nothing insane, just a enough to clear some fender and give it that slight executive look.

Wheel specs:

19" x 9.5" rear
18" x 8" front

Help is much appreciated

You know that your offsets will be needed before anyone can make any recommendation about your setup. What is a slight executive look?

Standard tires for those rims would be a 235 and a 265 but offset will dictate your guard mods or tire size.

After 100 pages of searching and so on i'm still having trouble...

What kind of offsets would be needed to run a 19x9.5 wheel all the way around.

-Is it possible to keep the same 3.5inch lip all the way around and keep the same tire size...

-keeping 0 camber all the way around...

-as flush as possible

Granted the sc300 has a coilover kit so ride hight is adjustable...

Any answers?

Assuming you want as flush as possible.

You could probably go anywhere from a 20 to 40 for the rear, 20 being ultra flush and needing a smaller tire to a 40 which will be slightly inset and could easily take a 265 tire.

In the front a 25 to 40 with a 235 or a 245 to give you a slight staggered look.

Yes of course...as flush as possible...

I have also searched and searched but I can't seem to find anyone with 19x9.5 all the way around with a decent lip...(3.5inch)

I have seen so many staggered looks it might not look the same with the same lip all the way around?

Just got the link to the wheel...19x9.5

http://www.xxrwheels.com/sportmax_006.shtml

Prob going with the vertex body kit...some type of red color and those red lip wheels...

You might be suprised how much of a difference you get from only a small tire size change. Could be deceiving.

And other than looks..what is the purpose of the staggered wheels? I'm just a little confused because I do notice numerous sports cars run stagger.

Anyone have pics of 19x9.5-10's all the way around?

I cant seem to find any.

TO all who have 19" rim ?'s here is my set up slammed

19x8.5 +24 front 245/35/19
19x10 +38 rear 265/30/19

No rubbing stock height or with lowering springs, but slammed with coilovers will need to roll fender lip flat thats it. see pics
