ive got a 1994 sc300 and its starts out in second gear but does shift up through the gears going down the road and 1st gear does work if you put it in 1st manually. i've been looking into it a little and all i can really find about it is something from consumerguide reading {(Automatic transmission: The car may not upshift, downshift, or may start in the wrong gear on electronically shifted transmissions due to a faulty ground circuit. }


i figure it might be a common problem and hopefully somebody here can help

shift solenoids

 

Shift solenoids or needs a major fluid flush.
check out for other people and what they've done in the Trans section

 

i just did a diagnostic check on it and came up with a code 62 which is no.1 shift solenoid. so i will do resistance checks and see what the problem is

Hey i know this is an old post but hoping you will reply. i’m having the exact problem in my 95 sc300. i’ve changed my filter/oil/solenoids twice already but the problem hasn’t gone away. Same code keeps coming up “62”. O/D light flashing. trans pulls off fine in L and it downshifts in D when i stomp the gas (though it feels like it only goes to 3rd?) but it won’t shift down when i come to a stop so i have to manually shift to L. Did you end up figuring out your problem? Any help would be great i’m at a loss rn
