agreed it still looks cludy ---this has been my concern since day one -----------i am going to try this becuase one of my headlights is almost brown with condensation and the other isnt very clean either so it needs to be taken off and cleaned at th3e very least---------i think that after the sanding ---instead of polishing----it might be a good idea to spray some heat resistent clear coat on the sanded /polished side----ink this will kill the cloudyness

polishing is never a perfect when i do it---so im going to try clear coat

with that aside thanks so much for sharing this thread and info with us -----it is exactly what i have been waitring for ----im going to do this forsure it is just a matter of time--

thanks again

The earlier models had plastic high beams.

Yeah, the lines are on the inside.

For a clear coat I've been thinking about Future floor polish. Us model car builders have used it for a long time to fill scratches in clear plastic parts. Future is a clear acrylic coating that is buffable and self leveling. We use it as a final clear coat or to separate layers of dissimilar paint also. I'm working on the lights on my STS now, I may try this.

I decided to try Future floor polish on the head lights od my STS yesterday. The first pic shows the foggy lens with the left side painted with Future. Just painting this stuff over the lens has made a huge difference already.

This is the lights after finishing them with a 3m restoration kit. The Future seemed to fill the tiny cracks in the plastic and made for a smother finished product. I had already finished one lens before thinking to do this and even after wet sanding the lens between steps of the 3m kit there were still cracks and a rough feel in some spots. I took the finished light and coated it also and repolished it. The difference in the smoothness was very noticeable.

Nice write up and great effort. Still appears to be a little cloudy or dull in the last picture posted on your car installed. I'm on the fence on this one.

What else do you need to know? It is pretty self explanatory. I'm using this as a basis for my headlight clearing that I'm doing for my girlfriends car. Unfortunately a 1999 Camry has diffuser lines so I'll have to start with 60 grit...
