Default 96 vs. 95 SC400

Hi all,

I was looking at the differences between 95 and 96 SC400, and here what I come up with:

95 4.0L 250 hp V8
Horsepower 250 @ 5600 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 260 @ 4400 RPM
Displacement (cc) 3994
Turbo/Supercharger No
Bore X Stroke (in.) 3.43 X 3.31
Compression Ratio 10.3
Fuel Type Gas
Fuel System SEFI

96 4.0L 260 hp V8
Horsepower 260 @ 5300 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 270 @ 4500 RPM
Displacement (cc) 3969
Turbo/Supercharger No
Bore X Stroke (in.) 3.44 X 3.25
Compression Ratio 10.4
Fuel Type Gas
Fuel System SEFI

So, as you can see the engine displacement got smaller while the compression ration got higher.

The interesting part though is that I compared the NGK spark plugs for both and here is what I come up with:

95 BKR6EP-11 gap .044
96 BKR6EP-8 gap .032

My guess is that the compression ratio difference required the different spark plug gapping.

So, I wonder if changing the gap from .044 to let say .038 in the 95 model would give me the better results fuel and power wise.

What do you guys think?

Interesting, isn't one SC400s have 290 hp? Compare that one too. See the difference.
