I googled and searched like crazy for this answer, but I'm trying to figure out which motor I've got in my car. I was told that I had gotten a JDM motor, and have read about the differences between the two engines, but am unable to verify which one I got. The motor is already in the car and running, so I can't identify which turbos are on the car (steel or ceramic). The one thing I did notice was that my car has an injector resistor pack. It wasn't added to the car either, as it's definitely part of the factory harness. I was told that the JDM TT engine, does NOT have one, but that the US spec does. (High imp vs Low imp). Is this a for sure way to tell if I have a US spec engine? Is there any other obvious way to figure this out? Thanks.
Injector resistor box means 550 injectors. 550 injectors are from a USDM motor. If you say the resistor box is part of the harness, then it means you probably have a usdm harness. You probably have a JDM motor, with USDM parts.
look at your throttle body if it says trac control its usdm if it says "TRC" really big its Jdm
Well, my TB says trac control, not TRC, so I guess I can safely assume it's US spec, but damn, I'd hate to turn the boost up and fry my turbos! I thought that most swapped cars were the JDM 2J's, not US spec, so I had figured I was part of the majority, not minority. Oh well, I guess I'll find out when I crank it up!
