Been working my @$$ off on the body kit. Stripping all the paint, some mild glass work repairs, Not sure if I am going to get it painted by Import face off.

Tons of work reconditioning a used kit. Save $900 but work your @$$ off?

Buy new guys!

Making good progress, front is almost preped and ready for paint, sides shouldnt be as hard, no glass work there.

If you're still confusing on the JIC, then sell it to me. Man! You already knew that you want to look hot and so is your car. You already have the wheels, big brakes, a supercharger. This combo means you want to be out of the ordinary. That's why people keep dreaming about getting a Lamborghini, Ferrari...etc. They want to have something out of the ordinary and not a simple Toyota Corolla that's for daily driving to work.

Why not go for the JIC? The '97 is nice comparing to a stock car, but it's not any special. We're talking about special cars, and not stock cars. Although the SC might not be comparing to a Lambo, but with a right & nice body kit, of course you'll and the bystanders will appreciate for its look. It's the same concept when you upgrade your seat interior. Can anyone tell you it's ugly? Of course not. So let's upgrade the body style. Unless the bodykit is so ugly, then the stock '97 will look better. Be decisive, my friend!

Post the pics after it's painted & installed.

Can't wait to see it when its all done and on the car. If you do decide to get rid of your 97+ rear, I'm still interested.

I will post some pics for sure, I am getting really excited about this, I think it is going to really tough! The kit is about 2 1/2 - 3 inches lower than my 97 kit. Going to really be selective about what drives I enter!

I will keep you in mind, I'm probally one of the few guys on the forum with a perfect 97 kit, a real authentic JIC kit and a perfect pre 97 lip. What to do, what to do? Not a bad problem to have. LOL

It's not too bad. I have the copy Vertes with a long nose and its' lower than the stock. I sometimes scraped the bottom when I'm hastily going straight into the higher uneven pavement of the drive way, or vice versa. Bumps or dips on the streets were never a problem.

On positive side of things...I have had the JIC kit for the past 3 years, I like the love of it so much I didn't bother to change it yet I've went through 4 sets of wheels since...

On the negative side of things, I also had it repainted 3 times, everytime being more expensive because of material and labor needed to make this thing sit perfect...Yet I manage to always somehow damage front bumper within a 2 month period..Some of it not being my fault, since here in NYC people like to tap my JIC bumper whereever I park...I can park 5 feet away from the car and these idoits still hit me...Being as careful as I am, I still manage to hit potholes or a ditches and the bumper just bottoms out leading to more damage...And oh yeah, and the rock chips...Those are just unavoidable...I didn't even want to think about clearbra, the thing will probably crack when its on and eventually i'll have to remove it to get it repainted again...

In a sense I kind of regret getting a fiberglass kit since it's a pain in the *** to keep up with...No matter what it will crack and have stress marks...Don't get me wrong but the JIC kit is beautiful, its just very fustrating to have the darn thing stay looking like new...

If i had to do it over again, I will probably do a 97+ bumper with a lip of some sort...I hope this won't discourage you too much, I'm sure your car will look amazing

Like yours, I have 20s...My car is an estimated 9-10 inches off the floor? My car is a weekend warrior as well but, I drive everywhere with it when I'm off...

...Mayb you'll have better luck, your roads are probably much better than mine...

Have any pictures?

Wow, you car is up in the air, once the JIC kit is on I estimate maybe 4 inches from front to ground.

Doesn't seem too jacked up there with the Tein CS at a low setting...

Nice!!!

Could you take a few more pics at standing angles? I'm really looking into this kit as well.

For the front bumper paint, make sure there're enough clear coat layers to protect it from chips & light scratches. It's not about fiberglass that gets chipped, it's the paint quality. You could get a touch up paint to cover the chips. It's not the perfect solution, but it can help a lot.

Thanks for the compliment!

I have multiple layers of high quality clear on top of my base coat..My rock chips were limited from 3 months of driving but there are still stress marks on the paint that can't be fixed from bottoming out....Touching up might be a good solution for chips on certain colors but not for metallics...I hate myself for being picky...

Same for me! I've already had mine repaired once (small crack from hitting roadkill on the highway at 95mph) and touched up twice. Getting in an and out of driveways are a pain, I scrap every single time and I'm not even at my lowest setting.

Anyways back on topic, Scott your car is going to look amazing with the JIC kit (even more so than it already does)! Hands down the best looking kit for our cars. Can't wait to see pics! Maybe us JIC guys can overtake the Autocouture guys

Here's mine
