Just found out the rear brakes of my SC400 are leaking... trying to avoid the "stealership" whats out there so I could buy online and have the local Toyo/Lex shop do it for me..?

Check prices at AutoZone for rebuilt calipers. Calipers are easy to swap out.

Or you can buy a rebuild kit from toyota for around $30. They send you all the rubber parts and washers to rebuld it yourself.

Default caliper rebuild

I have rebuilt a ton of brakes. If they leak there is corrosion of the cylinder for drum brakes and for discs the piston and cylinder are pitted. MOST PROBABLY. This is a generality. You needto get feedback from this forum to decide if a rebuild works in most circumstances. $30 for a kit and $70 for a rebuilt, I would go with the rebuilt unless I got feedback that the kits work almost always. New is stupid! Worn pistons are prone to brake squeel and you haven't lived till you have that problem with a luxury car.

My .02 cents

John
