Any more info on the brake issue that I posted about on post #13? Thanks!

In addition to the air in the brake lines and worn brake pad that could cause this, leaks in the caliper piston seals could also present this problem. The master cylinder is also something you can check.
On a side note, on kbb for private party, it shows the car you're looking at to be valued around 10k, so the price he's selling it for isn't bad, even for the mileage. But I think you can factor in the brakes and the time that he's had the car listed, he should be fairly willing to lower his price a bit.

If the car is that cherry it's worth putting more money into if you plan on rocking it for a few yrs. I'd make an offer that puts the brake issue behind you and in his pocket and get read to grab the key's.

OLT--Been good man!! How are you?

I'd rock it. it's less than 9 grand for a cherry car that cost $55k+ new less than 10 yrs ago. I think you should move on it.

It's hard to spend $8.5 on a car you know will be a solid runner and turn heads. Good opportunity IMO.

Wave $8,300 cash in front of his face, I'm sure that will motivate him to close the deal.. =P If not, hey, he came down a grand from $9500 so I'd say bite the bullet and do it either way.. =)

He doesn't know much about cars. Always had the car serviced at the dealer. So I tried "scaring" him with expensive brake service to negotiate.

He has been unable to move the car since Dec. The thing is, I have 4 cars and a new Ducati 1098 coming next month, so I don't need another one, but am always looking for a clean SC. There was a red one for sale here in the forum, but something iffy about that one.

I waved 8000 cash on the phone he said no. He said "there are other buyers that are calling, since you came yesterday."

I will wait till tomorrow morning and offer him 8250

thanks guys

no love for black cars. had them before, too much maintenance. i think it is a ok deal, given the mileage.

My last sc300 on espilir springs and blitz 03 18 inch rims looked gorgeous. but the car was a 1992, and i always liked the updated looks. always missed the car after i sold it.

won't be selling this SC for a long time to come. love the gated shifter, the leather, and the same pearl white as my old car. love the spoiler, rear tails, an the updated looks.

its an original owner car, all maintenance records, and has not a single ding on it.

will update a thread tomorrow morning with all the details

i also love the leather interior of this, unlike the "greenish" one in my 1992 model.

never owned a stock car, always modded them. trying to figure out if to mod or not on this one. if i do mod, will be suspension and wheels only.

HAH, so he did come down to the 8k, the initial price I had suggested you offer. So what made him finally go for it?

Congrats on the purchase though, she's a beautiful car..

Thanks Doug. I told him I will go to fresno and buy the 1998 red for sale (by a forum member). Then he figured I was a serious buyer, and said, "well, come and take it."

The lexus records show brakes have 7mm on front and 9mm on rear pads. So not sure if my feet are over sensitive or the pads are going pretty close the floor.
