I understand why people buy knockoffs though, some people want a certain look but can't justify spending x-amount of dollars on an item for fear of eventually losing it and not getting what they deem to be "their money's worth" out of it prior to the loss. They just have to be willing to accept/deal with all the possible negatives that might arise from the purchase of a knock-off kit. It's truly about the individual and their given situation.
Personally, I most likely will never have a kit on my SC simply because the OEM 97+ parts are more durable than most, if not all, kits (poly vs. fiberglass) and at this point I want stuff that's durable, I don't have time to fix things over and over again.
OEM -- but i would go with knock-off if it fit well (my mufflers, lol)...prefer authentic tho .. but sometimes authentic is too expensive or many other reasons (hard to get ahold of, something breaks suddenly , etc...)
I am fake on the kit cause the weather and road conditions around here suck and I'd rather pay $200 to replace a bumper than $600. That and I'd rather put the money to the road power wise.
Well I voted for authentic just do to the fact that I have an authentic kit, but as for people saying that authentic is perfect I would highly disagree. Not only did alot of modifying had to be done to my AC kit, and my borthers Impul kit for a G35, I even had to shave a little off of my fender so it would make the front corners fit more flush. Perfect - to strong of a word in this context. Don't get me wrong my kit fits great now and looks great, but it just took a little time.
By the way installing knock-offs could maybe even fit better than originals, it's just the matter of time and hard work that has to be put in just to do it right.

Semi-hijack - not talking body kits here, but PS pumps. Mine had the dreaded leak when I bought the car, and I (foolishly) let the guy at Edge of the World Automotive talk me into letting them rebuild the thing at half the price of a new pump. Yep - it leaked again very soon, and I didn't notice it, and it took my alternator to lunch. If I had spent the $$ on a new pump from the getgo, it woulda been waaay cheaper
"Had the fake kit, fit like crap"
Maybe your "fake kit" fit like crap but how does that relate to other aftermarket kits. It looks like a lot of people on this forum lump every aftermarket body kit into the same catagory without having the knowledge to make any such judgement.

i dont have much respect for companies that take others' products, copy them, and then sell for profit.. maybe it's because im a businessman.. other people probably couldn't care less
hahaha yeah ill put anything on my car as long as its quality and will look nice reguardless of who makes it. i am sporting the authentic veilside skirts right now
