will lexus ever bring sc400 back?
I don't know... I love the SC430.... its just a change..maybe more of a change than the different GS's but you can't deny its new functions... at that time there were very few retractable roofs..and that car is not small in the cockpit...maybe the back seat but no one rides in my back seat but my 5 year old...a man doesn't need a back seat....maybe in a jeep!
now the thing I don't understand is why the SC430 has fewer HP (288) than the 1998+ SC400 (290). Tq was boosted from 300 to 317, and the SC430 is quicker to 60MPH (5.8 vs 6.3) but come on; for a .3 liter increase there should have been a greater performance gain.
Can somebody explain the logic behind this...??

altough you only see rich older folks or beautiful women driving it i still like it the only reason i dont have one yet is because i cant afford it .maby if i sell my sc's i can .but i'll just wait couple more years for it

I just think that Lexus could make up for the lame styling, (IMHO), and start selling a few more of these things (to enthusiasts) if they beefed up the power plant. When you are paying around 70k for a new car, it better have some punch too it.
BUT, this will all be rectified by the LF-A (hopefully).

that's what bothers me. The engine has plenty of potential, but the car is the slowest Lexus next to the ES, and it's the bloody SPORTS COUPE
Maybe i'm just looking at this from a marketing perspective, IDK. I just think that Lexus could make up for the lame styling, (IMHO), and start selling a few more of these things if they beefed up the power plant. When you are paying around 70k for a new car, it better have some punch too it.

Market research dictates what buyers are really looking for from a Lexus, 2-door, luxury sports coupe, with a price point of $70k. Change one factor, ie: power and the other factors all change. Perhaps the cost goes up, or the luxury ride is compromised. These changes may not be what the market this car is designed for is looking for.
Browse through the SC430 forum and see how pleased those owners are with their cars.

It's funny how you actually think you know more about the market than the professionals @ Toyota/Lexus, which sell record breaking amounts of cars by a monthly basis.
ok, my bad, when I wrote my response it was early and I haven't slept (I still haven't) and Toyota/Lexus keeps breaking their own records which shows they know how to not only make a car, but to market/advertise it correctly. Mkorsu got it right, SC430 owners (here on CL and from around my house) love their car, and I guess I would like a more "sporty" vehicle. I think the SC3/400 was an awesome GT car and had the perfect balance of sport and luxury (for it's day). With the 430 it looks fat, and appears to have had many of the sporting characterists cut.
I take it back it wasn't a marketing thing, it was a personal preference.

i just went to the moscone car show that comes around every thanksgiving in san francisco, and saw the sc430, and it does look bigger than i thought it did in pictures. talked to the lexus representative, and "it is 4 seater, but unless you are dead skinny, you cant fit in the back with convenience and wont live up to what the old sc standards." so he says lol.... sorry to say new sc is in a way a chicks car. IMO
