Default jdm gauge cluster

does anyone know if the jdm gauge cluster will work in a usdm sc300? straight plug and play? or do i have to do any modifications to it? i always loved the digital display, i think s2k copied soarers

you would need the dash harness for a soarer... actually, some one in south florida claims to have made it work after their 1JZ swap, but i have yet to see it in a USDM car.

lol...

so this is when the aussies bust in this thread to say how horrible the digital dash is and how much better the USDM analog dash is, the thread starter to realize that he had a pretty weird idea and scrap it.

So mods, you should just close this since it's going to happen anyway...

If someone in Oz figures a way to get a USDM/CanDM instrument panel to work on the Soarer I'm swapping mine out.

I can make a small wager and say that Todd @ TMengineering could make it work.

Personally not my taste, the usdm cluster with a nice white led upgrade is much better imo. I'm sure someone could make this work if they spent enough time with some diagrams and a spare harness to play with, but in all reality.... the digital dash fad reminds me of the 80's Buicks and Oldsmobiles my parents used to drive. That was made popular by the whole Night Ryder thing. Here's the reason's i wouldn't want a JDM soarer cluster,

1. They only read in KMH and aren't switchable like the american digital dashes that are found in new civics and s2ks. you would constantly be crusing down the highway doing the math in you head that 100kmh actually =60mph.

2. From what the japanese and aussie owners have said in previous threads, these things have lots of issues worse than the analog ones, and we don't have any support over here to get them repaired.

3. Replacing any cluster in our vehicles ends up making them TMU, or true mileage un-known. I know from working in a dealership if a car comes in for a trade appraisal with a replaced odometer or cluster and there is no federal mileage disclosure sticker with the exact mileage from when the cluster was changed, it KILLS the re-sale value.

i would love the jdm clusters if someone could make them work, change the green to that bluish white, and if they didnt go black on you. i think they look sweet but the minuses make it not worth it

I'm digging the JDM gauge cluster, love the digital look better than the analog.
