for the 99-00 SC, those 3-spoke wheels....are those airbags dual stage??? also is there any other model lexus airbags will fit into the 99-00 SC style steering wheel?? becuase got a 2000 SC here, and need airbags in black....
I believe the 98-00 steering wheels were 3-spoke and had single stage bags...you can find other airbags from the same year SC, 98-00 RX, 98-00 GS...someone please correct me if i'm wrong there...
Even newer model SC (2001-2006), I believe that all year SC models use single stage air bag.
IS Steering Wheel
Im considering IS wheels and they come in manual or Auto tiptronic wheel and Im wondering will the IS auto steering wheel work too or only the manual on the SC?

If you have lets say an 92-97 SC...you'll have a 4 spoke steering wheel. You can find a SC steering wheel from a 98-00 model and be able to install that into your car. You'll then have a newer look of a 3spoke wheel and not have all that extra junk you're talking about.
But, you can setup those buttons to control other things in your car. Those buttons on mine will control my volume/change tracks on my carputer.
If you want a newer wooden steering wheel, steering wheels from 01+ cars such as the ES, GS, SC will bolt-on. You would then have to worry about getting an airbag to fit because most 01+ models with the exception of the RX300 have dual stage airbags which cannot be used on older SC's...

You need to find the one without the chrome "L" on the airbag...
98-00 GS has a smaller 3 spoke steering wheel and uses a different airbag...
Here's a picture to prove what I just said...you can see how the older 3spoke airbags did not fit with the newer 01+ wheel I have...I have tried on both GS wheel & SC430 wheel..

IS300 steering wheel and airbag (stage one) No modifications except if you want cruise you have to use you old cruise control and mod it a bit.
