SC400 Dead Amp - Replacement?
Blew the factory Nakamichi Amp in my 92 SC400. Lexus dealer here wants $1900 (Canadian) to replace. Anyone replaced theirs with an aftermarket amp? How difficult? What is required? Any amp (make/model/price) suggestions? Would like to keep factory head unit and CD Changer
Any and all advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

you should go to any stereo shop and i'm sure they can replace the stock amp with an aftermarket amp for a fairly low price. or if you can do it yourself, just buy the amp, power cables, and some rca's and you're all set!
I heard you CAN'T just get a regular amp and use it. Something about their wiring. I suppose if you are an electrical engineer and can get a diagram of all the wires you could hook them up.
My 93 amp blew (Nakamichi) and I replaced it with a 95 amp, even though Lexus told me it wouldn't work. I got it on eBay and I suggest you start watching auctions.
Good luck!
