can you tell me how to do the reverse polarity thing for the mirrors? so are the mirrors "on" all the time? how do you control when the mirror motor stops running?

If you get the JDM mirrors for a V8 soarer, you get an ultrasonic ice breaker as well as the heating element in the mirrors

Default momentary toggle switch?

I know it wouldnt be stock but is it possible you could hook up a separate momentary 3 way toggle switch?
Ground in the middle and open/ close on the other two contacts?

Mirrors are not on all the time. The only time the voltage is applied is when you need to move the mirror left or right, or up and down. The direction it moves will depend on the polarity of the voltage you send it. The folding mechanism is basically the same, you apply voltage when you want it to open or close, and it also has a position sensor.
For my power folding mirror project, I'm thinking of doing a "piggyback" controller, since that would be much easier than replacing the stock electronics, and figuring out how the memory positions are set up.

Default Swapping Side Mirror Housings with JDM Folding Ones

Anyone know if I can switch out the side mirror housing and mounting bracket of my SC and use them with the JDM electrical folding mechanism? ...or modify them to fit. I want to keep my side mirror housing as they are newly re-painted and color matched.

They're also helpful when you're in a parking lot and people walk between your car. You don't want them running into your mirror and taking out their frustration on your door or wheels.

Ok now that's just reaching for an excuse. Why don't we all just admit that the mirrors look cool?

My excuses:
-Look cool
-Ultrasonic clean thing is pretty convenient
-Flip them in when some jerk is driving with high beams on behind you (kinda hard to do if you're driving alone, gotta reach for the passenger side, not exactly safe)
-JDM TYTE YO!

If I was ever to do this mod I'd tint the mirror with anti glare, I'd definitely want USDM mirror lenses, I'd probably mod the housing so I could place turn signals in them. I'd hook them up to an alarm system so when you lock the car, the mirrors fold in.

Flame me for wanting it but folding mirrors are a nice addition and turn signals on the mirrors just more safe. I also would love to have a rear windshield wiper, I drove a hatch Celica and I miss having a rear windshield wiper for when it's raining hard.
