Default Exhaust Choice Help

Hey i just got a 1995 lexus sc400. The only thing i really wanna do is get a catback exhaust done on it. I heard that the air intakes are pretty useless so im just trying to do catback. If you could help me find an exhaust system that would be great. I want something that is loud but also deep. I dont want something that will sound like a rice rocket tho. A local shop told me flowmasters would be good but i dont know cause i know flowmasters are more domestic vehicles so if could help me that would be great. I would appreciate the help.
Thanks

I too will be on the market for an exhaust system soon. Although I think I will just have a new system run from the cats on back. I don't think the mufflers alone will give you the sound you are looking for. Flowmasters should sound pretty good on the car. I had a set of Flowmasters on my ZR-1, which was a DOHC V-8. It sounded great. And since the Lexus shares the same firing order as the ZR-1 it should sound similar. If you go with Flowmasters do not get the 40 series. They will drone like crazy. Get 50 series or the Delta flows. They are quieter and have less drone.

I just had the exhaust done on my '98 SC400 about 3 months ago. I have 2 1/4 in. stainless from the cats back, a Magnaflow X-Pipe, two 12in. Vibrant Performance resonators, and Buddy Club Racing Spec mufflers. It's LOUD and deep at idle/low RPM's and absolutely screams at WOT. Very unique sound, nothing like a Honda with a fart can.

I put exhaust on my 1992 sc400. So far I have changed only part of it. I put on 40 series flowmasters and changed the tips to 3 1/2". I am in the process of getting ready to have a guy build me a custom x-pipe and convert the old piping to either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 from the cats back to the flowmasters, but I don't know what size to use. On my civic I had 2 1/2 and it sounded great.
