How effective or Practical are sprayers?
I live in the desert. It's 115+ out here now. My intercooler is not that great.
I don't think I want the complexity of a Cryo cooler. It wouldent last long out here anyway and it's dangerous to keep pressurized items in your car in this heat. BOOM!
I was wondering if I can take my washer hoses and extend them to a sprayer on the intercooler and use distilled H2O so it wont leave deposites on the cooler.
How much cooling enhancement will this potentially give? Also keep in mind the outside temp.
Does an intercooler do much to cool air that is already that hot?
Spearco sells a pressure switch for $36 which could be used to make the sprayer activate automatically under boost

Honestly, I think thats a very cheap idea to get some cooling effect on the intercooler.
The difference between cyro c02/nitrous is the fact that when the chemical turns into a vapor, temperatures dramatically decrease, thus having that chill effect.
But if you want to just spray distilled water on your intercooler, I doubt it would do much, esp when the bar and fin design of the intercooler wont old much of the water nor distribute it evenly.
If I were in your situation, I would purchase a watercooled setup or spray with a nitrous setup.

Just get the cryo/NOS setup. The bottles are pertty strong and a hotter bottle works better. I know they sell bottle warmers for just that purpose. As long as the bottle isn't placed in direct sunlight, I think it should be ok,. And even then, in direct sunlight, I think it would be fine.
