beside your tune up, tire pressure and all that good stuff, make sure your car is aligned properly, that should also help. Definitely driving habit is whr it is. Im ready to do my tune and hope to see some improved numbers. good luck.

Check out your fuel filter if anything.

My 96 SC300 tends to like my driving style and on the first trip out of town, from San Diego to San Fran (500 miles on the dot) it managed to pull 27mpg.
On the trip back, with the same conditions and staying within the speed limit (65-70 depending on the location) it averaged 29mpg.
The car has not had a tuneup in who knows how long. It still has the original spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and the air filter is dirty. The tires are underinflated as well.
Like Kaydee said a few posts up, it's all in your driving style. The car is capable of burning a little less fuel, if you're willing to sacrifice some acceleration.
I'm currently testing fuel economy from work to home, which is not exactly a 100% highway trip, and I assume that will yield worse numbers (maybe in the 22,23mpg range).

A good tuneup, starting with air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, oil change, coolant flush, properly inflated tires, and removing all the junk we tend to lug around with us, should improve the gas mileage on any vehicle. With all that said, we can't keep you off the gas pedal, so in the end it's all up to the driver.

Just a quick followup on my previous post.
Filled up tonight and mixed city/highway driving yielded 24.7mpg. Needless to say I am happy with the way I drive this car, and the way it treats me back.

21.6 Gallons.

Right now I'm at ~380miles give or take 5 miles, and the light isn't even on yet. Driving conservatively will yield you the best results.

to fill up my car from empty will cost me about 115 to 120 $ on premium gas , i dont know why some people cheap out and put regular gas , but thats not the point anyways 120 $ with my old car mazda protege 95 , i know its way smaller car but i would pass like a month and some change with that much gas money going to work and back . so i figure if you like pushing the gas allot then your gonna waste like 250 per month on GAS and thats retarded so drive normally and less often if you could , also does it matter that the car is a 92 ? they say the older the car the less mpg you get

I'm averaging 18 in the SC400 with a crapload of stuff in the trunk, low if anything tire pressure and not always light driving.

Don't know what's up with that.

I'm thinking about driving like a granny for one tank to see if I can break 20.

This is ALL city driving too, probably with clogged cats.

I have no idea how i'm getting such good mileage.

I have a K&N drop in and cut off mufflers.

On the way back from TN I knocked down 27.5 on the highway driving conservatively.

If you have larger rims your trip ODO will be off a bit. Fortunately we had a Prius with us with no mods...so we used that mileage from point a to point b

If I go by my ODO its about 25 MPG

And I don't even have my Magnecore wires or platinum plugs yet!

I have a 92 that I'm getting 22.5 mpg out of right now with "spirited" driving. I have a AEM cai, electric fan, muffler cutoff, and spare tire removed. The motor was just replaced with one that had 73k on it and it idles rough (I'm guessing I got a vacuum line messed up. Another thing to look into to get better mileage is your motor oil. I use Royal Purple full synthetic and I've seen 2-3 mpg before on some of my other cars and even gotten better than factory rating on some at over 100k miles.
