Cool

Ok, here is the scoop:

Added the following to the ride (all from www.mvpmotorsports.com )

Stainless steel brake lines. Yes an improvement over sponginess. Not exteme, but worth the 90 bucks.

RECOMMENDED UPGRADE: Dual electric fans to replace clutch fan. Big improvement, like S-AFC.

PVC bypass, aluminum oil catch can. Done at same time as fan upgrade. looks cool.

I'd say the fan upgrade was the best. Especially in 2-3 gear at lower rps I can really feel it pull better.

No thanks to suprastore.com where Mark never emailed me back or returned my call, I ended up getting these from MVP where they were all more than helpful and shipped fast. Cant wait for my 150 amp alternator upgrade.

This SC is getting quick guys, and still NA!

Still have a couple heatshields left.

Hi,

I have to agree with you that the suprastore.com is not the best online store at all. For example, it took theme 1 month to ship me my cam gears.

couple questions :

1) what does na mean?
2) what exactly does the heat sheild do, you put it over your intake right? Im planning on putting an intake in, but I dont know very much about well..... anything really, I just want to make my car faster :P And as for the intake, it increases fuel flow right?? or is it air flow? and does your car come stock with one, and when you add the intake its just a bigger/better highquality one or whatever?

Sorry for the dumb questions im not the most knowlegable about engines

its all good rhino... thats what we're here for

NA means Normally Aspirated... which refers to no forced induction (turbos or supercharger), and no Nitrous... just pure motor

the heat shield keeps the air intake temps down... hotter air produces less power because cold air is denser than hot air so therefore more can be squeezed into the cylinder; causing a bigger explosion...

as far as intake goes; every car comes with an intake of some kind; but 99% of the time, its in a black box that is supposed to keep the air cool... what this does however, is restrict the air flow... with a K&N air filter, you remove the box and sometimes the piping and replace it with better and much higher flowing stuff...
the stock filter itself is usually made out of paper and is not cleanable (the K&N is)

it doesn't increase fuel flow... it increases air flow... with the increase in airflow... the MAF (m***-air-flow) unit can tell that more air is being ingested by the engine, so it injects more fuel to compensate...
an engine is basically an air pump.... it just uses the fuel to combust it; you have to add the fuel in specific ratios to make it combust correctly and on time... (Air/Fuel Ratio)
the more air you add, the more power you make... thats why turbos are cool... its basically cramming the air down the engines stomach hehe... makes for huge power increases

hope this long post helped

I did sorta the same thing...I just bought two 14" fans from Advance Auto, and they're always on. $60. Big help pulling that clutch fan off.

I want that catch can and PCV bypass also...

(oh ya...I'm not impressed with SupraStore either...will never attempt to purchase from them again!)

933005spd...
Wanna race??? Just kidding....

I've heard the same thing... Some others to try are www.turboimports.com. Clint is part owner and I've had very good service from them.

Dusty at MVPmotorsports has a very good reputation for taking care of customers.

The Suprastore gets a big thumbs down.

Talking the wiz is the man

Wiz, you the man, 60 bucks?? I paid 250 for dual flexalite setup which has 2500 cfm pull (20amps). These are wired to the passanger bay to turn on when ignition is turned on. There are no light dimming issues, even with the stereo blasting and sub booming.

Still, I have ordered the 150 amp alternator from MVP.

The catch can is Greddy and was 89. It includes all you need, but I got longer tubing and put stainless braid over it, then routed the return through the cold air box to help cool that also. Kinda looks neat. Will post pics later.

Jeff, I can't wait to at least check my 1/4 mi time now. Need to get a Gtech thing-a-ma-bob.

Well the cool thing about yours is it covers the ENTIRE radiator....my fans still leave a little space at the top that doesn't get airflow....but they still keep it cooler. Well it takes longer to heat up...that's how I can tell

Talking

Wiz, figured out how to change the fan to electric fans on the SC4? You should have seen the look on your and Bitkahuna's face when you guys say that SC4 fan...

Hey the hydraulic fan is run off dextron II ATF in the SC4. It is independent of the engine, I think....

If it's independant of the engine, then you can just pull the whole thing out. Unbolt it from everywhere and rip it outta there!

Then all the fluid would run every where!!!!! Seriously, I'm going to leave it alone... If it is not drawing off the engine then it is not going to make a noticable difference anyway....

I'll leave my faith in the Lexus engineers... for now!

Default small diff on the 400

I dont think it will make an improvement on the SC400 due to the hydraulic fan vs. the 10 pound clutch fan on the 300. Sorry Ikon.
