I'm thinking about removing my spare wheel for some minor weight reduction. Is Fix-a-flat or similar products a fair alternative, or is it just good for peace of mind

Experiences? Opinions?

Thanks

Fix a flat will work only for very small punctures (nail). I used it once and the fluid ran through the hole quicker than I could pump it in.

If you want to remove that spare, head over to AAA and plunk down $99 for a year of roadside assistance. You get the service plus other valuable amenities if you travel or need local info.

Now that's peace of mind!

If you are removing your spare, you better get some "run flat" tires... I've had to replace a 1 week old tire before after running over something in the road and split the tire... I'm glad I had my spare...

S#@T happens at any time... Fix a flat will not repair a "true" flat... I do keep a can for minor ones on the road...

Yeah, I think runflats might be a good idea ... need to check that. I guess the wait for the AAA guys could be slightly too long in my case
