Day 1:

I about got sick to my stomach when I started to remove the valve covers on the motor tonight. The lack of maintanence on this motor the previous owner showed is amazing.

Plug wires covered in oil.

Amazingly the car still ran fine like that. I guess Toyota plug wires seal like a ****.

Day 2:

I finally got the special tool needed to remove the head bolts on the motor. Man was it a ***** to find. It's basically a reverse 12pt 10mm. Think Torx, but not really. Photo is below.

All that is left now is....everything. Hope to get head to machine shop tomorrow, and get it back sometime next week. I still need to remove crank pulley bolt to get to front case for gasket and seal changes. But the crank pulley bolt is giving me hell, even with an impact gun.

I will be pushing motor outside this week and spending hours upon hours cleaning it up in preparation for the ARP Headstuds and BoostLogic 2.5mm Headgasket. Soon as head is back, I can bolt it all down and begin mocking up the turbo kit for feed and drain lines.

Slowly but surely it is coming together.
