goodness. please i have a knock off, ROO i know you're an experienced car builder, but really, some v-speed kits arent as bad as you think.
I think splitters are alright, but canards are overdoing it. It may affect some corning stablization, but our cars are notorious for oversteer not understeer.
Just to clear this up, our cars understerr naturally, not oversteer.
Some have fit wonderfly but most have not. Take a gamble i have one sitting in the garage dont know yet
They fit just fine. I dont know why some poeple make a big deal out of it. The one im planning on getting was test fitted on a SC when I was there. Fit just fine.
PS Canards and Splitter are the S***. Way better then getting those ricey aluminum wings on an SC.
Dude he's not getting the stuff to make you all happy. He's getting it for himself. There are times where "knock off" and "quality" actually are in the same sentence and used complimentary. I say, more power to you. If it looks good, it fits well, it's quality sizing and material, why not? Some of us don't have money to spill on our cars. But we have to satisfy our desires to make our cars look the way we want them. I hope your project goes well.
it's pretty common knowlege that as knockoff molds get used more and get older the fitment gets worse and worse. (your odds of getting a crappy fitting setup get higher and higher)
if you're dead set on having something now now now, go ahead and get the knockoff and learn your lesson with the fitment and quality of what you get. Beyond the whole counterfeiting issue here, there's a maturity issue...I've been building cars for many years and nowadays when I want something done, i want it done right. It's not a money issue as much as it is a patience issue. I could have probably had counterfeit fitted on my car, painted with wheels by now but I'm saving up and buying the authentic quality parts little by little. I'm not made of money more than any of you guys but i'm not going to throw my hard earned money away on cheap knockoff parts for my car. I'd rather rock it stock than put that trash on my car. Most of you guys that don't agree with this philosophy are simply impatient or are not concerned with quality when it comes to your cars. In the end, if it takes you twice as long to save up for the quality stuff and get it on your car, the end result will be much cleaner and you will be much happier with what you end up with.

Really? With both my old sc4 and my current sc3, cornering hard usually brings oversteer, esp in my 5spd when I heel toe and power through corners, its more tail happy than most cars I've driven, including my 300rwhp rx-7 and my buddies old '98 240sx

My 5spd tends to oversteer as well but remember how old the bushings and other suspension components on our cars are at this point. I wouldn't trust my car in it's current condition to be consistant either way.

I could give a **** about looks. If you had read in one of my previous posts I had mentioned that the kit Im planning on getting was test fitted on a car while I was there. It had fit perfectly and trust me I've been messing around with car for about 3 years so Im not talking out of my *** like some people. I wish I had a camera to post pics up but I didnt. I too care about quality as much as the next guy but I try and concentrate more on performance first. You are also forgetting the main reason why I made this post. I can be impatient but when when it comes to looks I can wait as much as a year.
Canards and splitters are cool and all...on a racecar.
On a street car, it's a bit overkill and boy-racerish. IMO
Canards and front air dams are for high speed downforce. Depending on the design, placement, or location, they might actually be completely useless and create more drag than anything. Aerodynamics are funny like that
Knock off kits have the same style, but since dimensions are different, that extra mm or so out or in can often ruin the aerodynamic function of the original piece...rendering it nothing more than a cosmetic modification.

Just look for any Ueno photos. I dont know of anyone running canards on their street SC (or race SC for that matter)
Guys, let's keep it civil in here or the losed will meet the sea. Thanks.
Jspec - no need for the rough language (I see it going there in a minute). I do see both sides of the table, and will say this. Cry once. You can gamble with some things, and some things you cannot. If you roll and crap out, the money will follow it. These guys mean well, they just would hate for you to get something unworthy and have to spend mucho dinero getting it right. Trust us - those of us that have been around for some time know what this is about. Besides, you just disclosed that you have seen it test-fitted on another car. Good luck in your endeavors, everyone get along now.

Yeah one of my goals is to build up my SC for top speed. Speed trials are the greatest.
i myself was looking at this kit..i say do it and post pics when its done..then let me know where you got yours from and i might buy it to if it didnt cause you any fitment problems..good luck..
