is that what you used on yours? how long have you had them on? ive heard from other companies that produce these type of films that red is very hard to maintain and turn orange after a while.... so they tend to stay away from that color. is this true?

exactly. fading of the film is a reason why i want to go with spray right from the get go.

paint fades too bro... ive seen so many dull black ones... you have to use a clearcoat after application of the black. or else it'll fade, trust me on this.

yeah i was gonna clearcoat from the beginning. my uncle blacked his tails on his suburban with no clear and they look horrible and feel horrible.

i also found another way to do it, using a different red spray.

There is a hobby paint called "window tint spray" that is "smoke is a can" and works very well, I did my BMW with it, but because i am **** about not getting them too dark , i removed it from my BMW lights with some thinner the same day. It worked though.

How it looked when I was done with the rear. It was too dark for my tastes, but I may have been able to lay it down lighter if i had wanted to re-try.

These have been on for 3 years now, and no peeling, cracking, fading .

I just painted the orange/amber part of my tail lights: Pics Here. It looks so much better and cleaner and gives it a more updated look. I used spray paint specifically designed for tail lights called AUG Lens Painter, made in Japan. I bought it on eBay for $20 (shipping from CA included). I only painted the bottom part of the tail lights. I taped everything off and taped paper around it. I got a little overspray on the bottom, which worried me for a second, so I went to Auto Zone real quick and got something called Oops!. It did an excellent job getting the overspray off the paint, thankfully.

I'm very happy with the results so far. I decided to do it after reading a DIY tutorial on an ES's tail lights. Let me know what you think.
