The slotting takes away material from the brake disk and removing any material from the disk potentially weakens it's structure, especially under race conditions where very high temperatures along with the thinner material along the slots can make the disk prone to warpage. Slots are mainly good only for glazing which isn't a problem is you get a good pad.

Here a link for some good brake discussion: link

i will offer my advice because it seems most people replying to this thread have never autocrossed before, unless i am mistaken about that.

the thing i noticed most about this car on the track is its bodyroll. also the brakes need upgrading.
keep in mind i have a stock sc3

to help remedy this i have stock supra tt shocks and springs on the way. my reason for going with these parts is my lack of money. however i very strongly suggest upgrading your sway bars first. the reason i did not go with swaybars is because i got a very good deal on the springs and shocks.

in the future i will upgrade my sway bars then upgrade my brake pads. beyond that i will go with an ls400 rotor and caliper upgrade and wheels to clear that setup with better tires.

since you have not started autocrossing yet, i suggest you just get as much seat-time as possible, and ask people at the event for suggestions and advice. in my opinion i think you should hold off on your mods until after you have started racing for a bit so that you can experience the characteristics of the car before you alter them. that way you will know what you need to do, and why. its not logical to try and fix something before you know whats wrong

thanks man. that was some great advice.

what i was thinking of doing was still getting these parts between now and april or so, but i'm going to put them on all in one shot. so, it is possible for me to hit the novice driving school in april then upgrade and go from there. i have a very good idea of what i need, and i think the list of items i have will really help me do well on the track.

i'll definitely be posting my progress and when i do start autocrossing, i'll post up my experiences there as well. it will all take time.

i would suggest putting on each part one by one so you can feel how each part affects the handling.

let me know how your first event goes, i am on aim a lot and im interested to hear about other sc3 autocrossers cause there aren't many of them

this is pretty funny... the guy is trying to tell me since OEM part numbers for supra brakes and SC300 brakes are different they WILL NOT work. oh, and brembo doesn't make ANYTHING for the SC300. now, as far as i know if brakes will fit a 93 supra NA, they will easily fit my 93 SC300. why would this guy tell me they wouldn't work?

i'm gonna hate having to look at these until springtime though.
