Default newb here

Hey everyone. Im new to the board and this is my frist post. Im here because Im looking into buying an SC400. The one Im looking at is a 95' SC400 w/ 163K miles. Its silver/blue (name?) on black leather. Interior is MINT, exterior isnt. One headlight is busted out and the headlamp does not function, the other is yellowed. The paint is pretty good except for 2 or 3 scraches, paint missing from just behind the passenger front wheel (side skirt, hard to notice) and ONE ding. It has 18" BBS's (sorry dont know what type). And other than some light tint is factory. O yea the big needles have bits that dont illuminate. He wants 6300 (Started at 6900 then his light got busted so he went 6500 and I said I might pay 6300 so he accepted). Anyways is it worth it? Also can I rely on the motor/tranny with 160K+ miles? And finally has anyone put the 97+ 290HP motor along with its 5 speed auto into an older SC? I LOVE the way this car looks and the interior is so nice and the factory stereo (Nakwhateverichi) sounds fantasic. Let me know what you guys think and what I sould look for when I have it inspected by a mechanic. Hopfully I will really join the club soon.

LoL. You wish! I could use a Nakamichi setup as well, mine is the stock Pioneer non-cd with a crappy FM-modulated changer. Also, if the car has been taken car of mechanically, the engine and tranny should last much longer than 163k.

dude its a toyota! how much more reliable can you get? well,... i mean, assuming that the previous owner didn't abuse her too much. But if it already has 18inch BBS... im assuming it wasn't no grandma driving her. Just have a mechanic look her over... and good luck

My brother is an ASE master tech and a shop forman (and thank god for that). Its looking like tomorrow he will take a look at it. One thing I did notice about the car was some jumpy hesitation from a stop. My very first car did that along time ago and thats because it had factory plugs with 130k miles!. So one thing I plan on doing is having him replace the plugs. If it goes away I buy the car. If it doesnt I dont (or we find out whats wrong and I REALLY low ball um). Anyways still looking for late model swap info.
