Exclamation DIY radio install with a cubby ! :)

Here's a more updated set of shots on my radio endevour. Once I get the pieces all welded up today I'll post some better pics. After I finish the fit and trim i'll be able to work it into my "real" console sitting in storage. This is my ghetto fabulous testing console for ideas. All the brushed aluminum panels are loose. One main piece and two side pieces. I'm going to solder weld them right now. The screen on the false radio panel is just taped from behind. I'll be spraying it off while i am down there to make it a clean look without the tape leaving air around the lcd. I was just trying to get idea's.

Loads of hidden storage behind the false plate. Nearly as much as the center console.

clamp down and solder weld.

EDIT: forget solder weld...... to tell you the truth folks duct tape on the back works better, takes just a few seconds, and nobody is ever going to see it.

When done, just spray with a black satin (semi flat) paint and Voila!

Instant storage for whatever you wanna cram in there. With my false plate, it even hides itself.

Nice!
I'm wondering why you need the false panel though....they don't steal anything in Tennessee, do they????

Jerry.

If i had one.....lol. I really should get one, but music isn't a large part of my life anymore. Ironic since I owned car audio stores for years. That Blaupunkt has tele/nav inputs as well as mp3 and others. I just don't use them.

Looks like I am going to pick this back up since it's been 6 years since I did it. Time for a remake V2 of my cubby that has served me well.
